Is there a sustainable sunblock? YES! Here are a couple of ideas. Search your part of the country using this resource (

The Naked Grocer here in Seattle, WA has sunblock in bulk form, and I’ll bet other zero waste stores do as well.  I think Beaver Balm has a sunblock in sustainable packaging as well as Manda.  Manda is a little tough to distribute on my face, unless you mix it with some oil based/coconut oil… easier to massage it around your face.   So, first choice:

  1. Sustainable BYOC sunblock at the Naked Grocer (Capitol Hill, Seattle) or The Soap Dispensary in Vancouver BC
  2. Manda Paste (#2 because it’s tough to move around my skin w/o additional oil… will still use it, far better than the alternative)
